Senior Legal Counsel (UK&IRE)

About the requirement:

We are looking for a Senior Legal Counsel to join our Boldyn Networks team. This position will ensure the protection of Boldyn Networks UK & Ireland commercial relationships with customers, suppliers and business partners with responsibility for giving practical and commercially focused legal advice on a wide variety of legal matters, supporting Boldyn’s growing business and helping us to build for scale.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Providing timely, practical and proactive advice on a wide range of legal matters affecting the operations of Boldyn, including in relation to telecommunications, public procurement, procurement generally, property, employment, data protection, disputes, and other general corporate and commercial law matters.
• Working closely with the General Counsel and outside counsel to coordinate a wide range of commercial contract negotiations including advice, negotiation, review and drafting of:
• large, complex, and high value contracts with government and telecommunications companies;
• contracts for construction works, equipment supply and installation, maintenance and support, and professional services; and
• leases and licences connected with the implementation and operation of telecommunications networks.
• Supporting the Commercial business development team in pursuing new opportunities to grow shareholder value.
• Ensuring the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) are informed about new or proposed legislation, policy or regulatory changes which may affect the business
• Assisting the General Counsel in relation to corporate governance and compliance activities for the business.
• Working closely with Boldyn colleagues in business development, operations, finance, people, marketing and Safety, Health and Environment (SHE), as well as legal team colleagues in other regions and at a Group level.
• Providing general ad-hoc commercial legal support across the breadth of the business, including assisting with NDAs and undertaking legal research.
• Supporting the General Counsel in the provision of regular training and legal updates to the wider business.
• Streamlining existing processes, documentation, and precedents, and creating self-service tools for the business to enable the legal team to scale as the business grows.
  
  
  

What You’ll Bring

Think you could make a difference here? We’re looking for someone who genuinely cares and wants to grow our business. You’ll want to make an impact from day one. You might also need some of the following:

• Current practising certificate as a solicitor or barrister (UK or equivalent) with a strong academic background
• Appropriate qualifications in Law
• Holder of a current practicing certificate or eligibility to obtain one
• Minimum 6 years PQE gained either in-house or in private practice
• Excellent business judgment combined with high quality written and verbal communication skill
• Strong attention to detail and effectiveness managing complex projects and teams to demanding deadlines
• Can-do attitude, sense of humour and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
• Skills across the following areas:
• Complex and high value contract drafting and negotiation
• General commercial and corporate law including the ability to interpret and apply legal requirements to business operations
• Public procurement
• Disputes and litigation
• Technology contracts (IT, software licencing and telecommunications)
• Competition law
• Employment law
• Data protection law
