Department Purpose
The Business Development (BD) team sits within the Global Business Development, Marketing & Communications function. Dedication to clients is one of A&O Shearman's core values and to this end BD and client relationship management is at the forefront of its global strategy.
Role Purpose
The Senior Assistant will support the Business Development managers and work closely with other business development and marketing team members and with other business areas such as Finance, IT and HR.

Role and responsibilities
The role will require someone who is highly organised and efficient and who enjoys getting the job done.
The job will include, but not be limited to:
*Supporting the BD team with BD and marketing initiatives and other inputs as required.
*Provide support on client events and hospitality requests.
*Provide support on directory submissions, including working closely with the associates on matter write ups, with the partners to approve the submissions and their referees, and then with the researchers of the directories to secure interviews and drive the best possible ranking.
*In conjunction with the Creative Services team, creating client facing materials including brochures, inserts and contact cards.
*Collating information for and helping to produce tailored CVs and credential statements.
*Updating the relevant sections of the website and intranet as required including producing social media cards and posts.
*Using internal and external data to spot trends and opportunities in the market, and as required responding to ad-hoc research requests.
*Producing financial reports to provide background information on specific clients.
*Coordinating email marketing via Vuture
*Supporting on our content and profile raising activities
*Supporting on deal capture processes and publishing of new deals.
*Supporting on global league table submissions.
Key Requirements
* Excellent writing skills and attention to detail
* Ability to demonstrate initiative and generate ideas
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* A deep knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particular skills with Excel and PowerPoint preferred
* Eye for design/creativity (e.g. for presentations, proposals and events)
* Ability to work well under pressure and to drive through major projects to completion
* Ability to process and analyse business data and research
* Good organisational and administration skills/ability to multi-task
