Job Summary

The UK public sector is committed to hit net zero by 2050. Lexica have a track record of supporting numerous public sector clients understand and map out their route to net zero. This is now being turned into implementation and delivery.


At Lexica, our net zero work is rapidly expanding to meet demand and we play a critical role in supporting our clients across the NHS, local authorities, and the education sector to achieve their pathway to net zero.


As one of our advisory consultants, you will be vital in leading the delivery of a full range of consultancy services that drive the integration of sustainability for our clients.


We offer a hybrid working model and project permitting, employees may work from home for up to two days per week.


Key responsibilities

  • Lead the scoping, delivery, and monitoring of client projects. The typical projects you will lead on will include heat decarbonisation plans, green and travel plans, as well as wider sustainability advisory, including in-house support
  • Guide clients through Government funding rounds Low Carbon Skills Fund (LCSF) and Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme (PSDS)
  • Advise clients about our clean technology procurement frameworks, including LED lighting and net zero carbon delivery
  • Provide robust recommendations, based on carbon and energy data, to clients as part of annual reporting and wider programme management of net zero strategies
  • Manage matrix teams and a portfolio of clients to deliver sustainability solutions
  • Develop and manage junior grades including our graduates, and play a key role in shaping the way the team operates
  • Foster strong working relationships with clients and other service lines to embed sustainability into our new and existing projects, always driving forward the net zero agenda
  • Maintain a good knowledge about current legislation, innovation, and drivers for sustainability in the public sector to provide clients with best-practice guidance and advice
  • Support in bid preparation for prospective clients


What you will bring to the role

  • Experience of working in sustainability, either within the public sector or consulting, and/or experience of delivering complex projects such as change management programmes and innovation
  • Strong communication skills with demonstrable experience of effectively articulating key business strategy/messages to stakeholders, both face to face and through written collateral
  • Experience of line management, programme and budget management
  • Good working knowledge of sustainability in the public sector, including in-depth technical knowledge and compliance with public sector regulations and guidance
  • Professional qualification in related subject, educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant field
