The Systems Engineer is responsible for specifying and designing systems and taking responsibility for the engineering component of these systems, through to testing, commissioning, and customer handover.

What You Will Be Doing
- Assume technical lead for projects in addition to supporting Systems, and other Systems Engineers on all other company projects.
- Produce Functional Design Specifications from customer specifications
- Produce block diagrams, system schematics, bill of materials and cable schedules
- Program PLC, HMI & Scada Systems
- Produce technical documentation, including manuals and test procedures
- Assist with internal and customer Factory Acceptance Tests
- Travel worldwide to commission systems on board all types of vessels
- Conduct Harbour and Sea Acceptance Trials through to customer handover
- Attend meetings with customers and other departments on and off site
- Assist with the development and assessment of new products
- Follow schedules and tasks assigned by the Systems Engineering Manager
Who We Are Looking For

- HNC / Degree Level in either Electronic Engineering or Electrical & Electronics Engineering
- Knowledge of P&ID drawings
- Knowledge of PLC and Scada based Software packages and environment
- Controls, Automation, Electrical and Electronics System Integration
- Structured programming languages
- CAD software, preferably Visio and E-Plan Electric P8
- Industrial communication protocols e.g., Modbus, Canbus & Profibus
- PLC programming using IEC 61131-3 programming languages
- Ship systems including automation, power, propulsion, navigation, and communications within the marine industry
- Ability to both lead and work well within a team whilst at the same time demonstrating initiative and the ability to work without supervision
- Solid problem solving, decision making and analytical capabilities
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Maintain a high level of professionalism
- The capacity to be influential and amenable
- Competent in computer technology and Ethernet network experience
- Demonstrate effective communication skills (both written & verbal)
