We are seeking a Senior Platform Engineer (Senior Technical Support Engineer) to join our team at CDL. The Role
As a Senior Platform Engineer in our Platform Engineering team, you'll be at the heart of CDL's Software Engineering department. Our team is dedicated to supporting and enhancing all IT applications and services for CDL's internal user base. This role is ideal for someone with senior-level experience who wants to dive deeper into the applications they support and understand how they work from the inside out.
You'll have the chance to:
- Improve end-user experiences and drive efficiencies through integration.
- Collaborate with the lead application analyst and the rest of the squad on key business projects.
- Contribute to planning, technical discussions, and project delivery.
- Adapt to ever-changing business requirements and priorities, working on a variety of exciting projects.
- Leverage knowledge in AI and Microsoft Copilot to enhance application performance and user experience.
Position within CDL
- Reports to the Technical Delivery Lead.
- Provide assistance and support to CDL employees within defined parameters.
- Engage directly with internal and external customers.
- Operate and progress based on a balance of experience, capability, and demonstrated aptitude.

Key Responsibilities
- Continuously improve and make changes to the M365 and Azure platforms.
- Possess comprehensive knowledge of all IT systems used within CDL and their underlying platforms.
- Contribute to the creation of detailed solution design documents.
- Manage automations and seek out efficiencies to enhance business operations.
- Develop, promote, and implement standards and practices to improve service quality and application performance.
- Collaborate with team members and the wider business using available tools.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Mentor other Platform Engineering team members on new changes and deployments.
- Identify and implement research and development projects to stay at the forefront of technology.
- Ensure all project deliverables meet end-user expectations and company quality standards.
- Take ownership of personal development with input from the TDL.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of team practices.
- Act as an early adopter of change and seek opportunities to improve team functionality and user experience.
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
Mandatory:
- IT-related educational background, preferably degree level, but other qualifications and experience will be considered.
- Strong technical problem-solving skills and quick diagnosis of technical issues.
- Strong analytical skills and capability.
- Experience implementing enterprise applications across multiple business areas.
- Experience coaching and mentoring team members on technical knowledge.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills with end users.
- Extensive experience with Microsoft 365 applications and architecture.
- Proficiency in Jira, including configuration and integrations.
- Experience with Power Automate, PowerApps, and Dataverse.
- Knowledge of Dynamics 365.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure (including Azure AD & Administration).
- Proficiency in PowerShell commands.
- Experience with REST APIs & JSON (Preferred).
- Experience with ServiceNow.
- Knowledge of AI technologies and Microsoft Copilot.

Salary
The salary for the role of
Senior Platform Engineer pays
up to £65,000p.a. Falling within our pay banding of £40,000 to £75,000, providing a fantastic opportunity for career progression through CDL's clearly defined career framework (https://progression.cdl.co.uk/).
