Rail & Civil Engineering
Location – Cumbernauld, Scotland
An outstanding opportunity for an experienced rail and civil engineering Site Engineer or Senior Site Engineer looking to hone their skills and experience in a rail and civil engineering project environment. As Site / Senior Site Engineer you will part of our team delivering a portfolio of rail station projects and associated civil engineering works.
Business Unit
A busy and fast paced project and maintenance environment involving in a range of multi-disciplinary civil engineering projects, working for a varied range of clients including Local Authorities, Network Rail and Environmental.
Projects can typically include civil engineering works and infrastructure projects such as:
Highways & Roads, underbridges, overbridges and footbridges, tunnels, flood alleviation & repairs, earthworks & embankments and rail platforms and station infrastructure etc.
We currently have a number of live infrastructure projects and long term renewals and maintenance frameworks underway including Civils Asset Management (CAM), Renewals Enhancement Framework (REF) and a Slabtrack framework.
The Role
This position will be embedded in the existing Operational team delivering a portfolio of rail infrastructure projects located throughout Scotland. In the first instance this role will be supporting the project delivery team on a Rail Bridge Replacement.
You will be reporting to the Project Manager/Site Agents and will be accountable for the weekly planning and ongoing delivery of site based works around Scotland.
Day to day responsibilities include but will not be limited to:
- Site Safety, Health Environmental and Quality responsibilities for all site activities
- Review and interpret project drawings, specifications for site based activity / engineering.
- Setting out and surveying works on site
- Ensuring that site engineering is carried out in a professional, systematic and accurate manner.
- Supervision of works on site including labour, plant and subcontractors.
- Keeping accurate records, including a diary, of all site activities.
- Taking off and ordering of materials.
- Daily and weekly planning of site works being carried out, including assisting in the production of Risk Assessments, Work Package Plans, Inspection Test Plans and other documentation.
- Day to day management of sub-contractors and engineers as required
Requirements
To excel in this role, you will have previous experience as a Site Engineer or Senior Site Engineer with Setting Out experience having worked on civil engineering projects or elements of a multi-disciplinary project in the rail sector.
Qualifications:
- Degree / HNC / HND in Civil Engineering
- PTS
Experience:
- Setting out experience - Good and sound knowledge of setting out and surveying
- Setting out Engineer experienced & competent in setting out roads & FRC works
- Correct interpretation of contract drawings and specifications
- Responsible for all dimensional control on site
- Supervision of Labour, Plant, materials and sub contractors
- Keep good records i.e - progress, quality control
- Experience in the weekly planning of the delivery of site works including production and review of associated Inspection Test Plans, Work Package Plans and Task Briefs.
