The Vacancy
Due to the planned expansion of a busy geotechnical /materials testing department, we have a position for a
Site Technician based in the North East of England. This is a
permanent, full time role. The vacancy welcomes both applicants with previous industry experience and those wishing to start a new career.
The role is predominantly site based and involves, but is not limited to:
- Sampling of construction materials within earthwork projects
- Sampling and testing of fresh & hardened concrete on construction sites and within our UKAS accredited laboratory for compliance testing
- Site Testing of in-situ earthworks materials for evaluation
- Sampling of materials for Waste acceptance (WAC)
- Assisting and supporting the Project Supervisor as directed.
- Assisting in the office as required by Senior Staff.
- PLEASE NOTE: The role will involve an element of Manual Handling and working outdoors in various weather conditions
Initially, the role will involve working alongside a senior member of staff, in order to gain the experience of performing the required duties under their own initiative.
The successful candidate must be able to communicate on daily basis with site mangers, to ensure that client needs are met.
It is essential that all test results and site activities are updated daily, and evidence of accurate record keeping in a previous role would be required.
This is an interesting and varied role, and will allow the right candidate to expand their knowledge and experience of material testing in a growing department providing opportunities for progression.
We expect the appointed member of staff to accept new challenges and further responsibilities in line with the development of the department as well as achieving certain safety standards and certification to gain access to client sites.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Basic IT skills (PC, Tablets etc)
- Full driving license
- Good organisational skills
- Good communication skills
Preferable But Not Essential
- CSCS card holder (Construction Site Certification Scheme) This can be organised by Ian Farmer
- Site Safety Passport
- First Aid or Fire Training
- Previous experience of working within a construction site environment would be desirable.
- Previous experience within a material testing role would be a distinct advantage and ALL level of applicants will be considered, however full training will be provided.
