The role:


We are seeking a Business Development Manager to lead the sales and expansion of our new build in-roof solar solutions. In this role, you will engage with business partners, vendors, and suppliers, including building merchants, roofing suppliers, and contractors, while nurturing relationships with existing customers. You will also research, identify, and sell to potential new business partners, ensuring the growth and success of our solar solutions across various sectors.


Key Responsibilities:


Sales & Business Development

  • Drive the sales of in-roof solar systems, establishing strong relationships with business partners, vendors, and suppliers.
  • Research, identify, and contact potential business partners, vendors, and suppliers
  • Collaborate with and sell products to wholesale buyers, business owners, and companies


Marketing Strategy

  • Develop and implement effective marketing plans and strategies, while analysing market trends and competitor activities to stay ahead of the curve and achieve sales targets.


Reporting & Performance Analysis

  • Collaborate with the financial controller to prepare detailed financial, performance, and sales reports, ensuring the business meets its goals.
  • Establish and achieve sales and performance objectives


Negotiation & Contract Management

  • Foster long-term relationships with business partners, vendors, and suppliers.
  • Negotiate prices, purchase terms, and conditions, and create contracts for long-term business relationships


Team Leadership

  • As the in-roof solar solutions gain traction, you will lead the creation of a dedicated team to manage different merchant sectors, driving continued growth.


Operations

  • Manage, monitor, and organised inventory levels with operations and procurement
  • Ensure compliance with contract terms and timely shipment and delivery of goods
  • Support with supply chain activities, manage inventory levels, coordinate delivery schedules, and arrange shipping to ensure smooth operations.
  • Oversee the implementation and execution of sales plans and strategies
  • Maintain accurate internal database of client activities, purchases, budgets, etc


Essential Experience:


  • Strong leadership, diplomatic and motivational skills including the ability to lead up, across and down multiple business and technology organizations.
  • Build and maintain relationships by engaging business leaders to establish credibility, solve problems, build consensus and achieve objectives.
  • Excellent negotiation, decision-making, sales and marketing skills and product knowledge.
  • Research best practices within and outside the organization to establish benchmark data and use continuous process improvement disciplines to achieve results.
  • Tools: MS Project, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Experience drafting and submitting budget proposals and recommending subsequent budget changes where necessary.
  • Experience in successfully leading projects and programs to on-time, on-schedule and within budget close.
  • Strong experience presenting to executive sponsors and demonstrated communication skills, both written and oral with technical and non-technical staff and all levels of management.
  • Intermediate level of proficiency with MS Project, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint and SharePoint with experience presenting to stakeholders and / or Senior Leadership
  • Proven ability to demonstrate a drive for results and accountability of business needs.
  • Demonstrate decisiveness in resolving business problems, making decisions and identifying priorities.
