We are seeking an enthusiastic Construction Solicitor, Associate or Senior Associate Solicitor to join our dynamic team in Belfast. Our construction team work across the UK and internationally, so you will have exposure to a range of work and clients - in Northern Ireland and further afield. We are particularly active in the infrastructure, energy / renewables, public sector and development / built environment sectors. We have a really diverse client base, from household brands to specialist contractors and developers.

We are primarily seeking a disputes lawyer, who can assist with contract advice, claims, dispute avoidance and ADR. Candidates looking for a mixed practice of contentious and transactional work would do well in the team.

The team currently work a hybrid approach with 2/3 day’s in the Belfast office and 2/3 day’s working from home.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advising clients on construction matters including defects, delay, payment and contract administration.
  • Assisting clients to bring or defend claims.
  • Acting in ADR proceedings, including adjudication and mediation, as well as more formal litigation and arbitration.
  • Instructing counsel and expert witnesses.
  • Supervising trainees and paralegals and helping to develop the team.
  • Involvement in marketing / BD activities including client development and cross selling to help grow the team.

What will help you succeed in this role?

Essential;

  • Candidates at all levels of Post-Qualification Experience (PQE) and alternative qualifications are welcomed.
  • A solid background in construction law is essential.
  • Applicants with experience in Professional Indemnity (PI) or Commercial Litigation looking to transition into a construction-focused role will be considered, provided they have relevant construction experience

Desirable;

  • Previous construction disputes and transactional experience.
  • Experience working across UK and International clients.
