Description

We are looking for an experienced Solution Business Analyst with a strong understanding of Government Digital Service (GDS) principles to support the delivery of high-quality, user-focused digital solutions. As a key player in multidisciplinary Agile teams, you will be responsible for analyzing complex business problems, defining requirements, and ensuring that technical solutions align with GDS standards and user needs.

The ideal candidate will have experience working across the full delivery lifecycle, from discovery through to live, and a proven ability to translate business and technical needs into actionable solutions.


Key Responsibilities

  • Solution Analysis and Design:
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business objectives and user needs.
  • Analyze and document requirements to define solutions that meet both user and organizational goals.
  • Work closely with architects and developers to ensure proposed solutions are technically feasible, scalable, and aligned with GDS principles.
  • GDS Compliance and Alignment:
  • Ensure solutions adhere to GDS service standards, including preparing for service assessments.
  • Embed GDS principles into all stages of delivery, focusing on user-centered design, accessibility, and iterative development.
  • Promote the use of the GDS Service Manual as a framework for best practices.
  • Requirement Elicitation and Documentation:
  • Conduct workshops, interviews, and research to gather and refine business and technical requirements.
  • Develop user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, and other documentation to support Agile delivery.
  • Ensure requirements are clearly communicated to and understood by all team members.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration:
  • Act as a bridge between business and technical teams, ensuring alignment and shared understanding.
  • Facilitate workshops, presentations, and discussions to gain consensus and resolve conflicts.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders across government departments, ensuring their needs are incorporated into solutions.
  • Agile Delivery Support:
  • Support Agile ceremonies, including backlog refinement, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
  • Work closely with product owners to prioritize and manage the product backlog, ensuring alignment with user needs and business objectives.
  • Continuously validate solutions against user feedback and performance metrics to drive iterative improvement.
  • Continuous Improvement:
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization and system enhancements, ensuring value delivery.
  • Keep up to date with GDS guidelines and advocate for their application across projects.
  • Promote a culture of learning, experimentation, and continuous improvement within the team.


Skills and Experience Required

  • Business Analysis Expertise:
  • Proven experience in eliciting, analyzing, and documenting business and technical requirements for complex solutions.
  • Strong ability to create detailed user stories, workflows, and solution designs in Agile environments.
  • Experience managing requirements and dependencies across multiple teams and systems.
  • GDS Knowledge:
  • Comprehensive understanding of GDS principles and experience delivering solutions aligned with GDS standards.
  • Familiarity with the GDS Service Manual, service design phases (discovery, alpha, beta, live), and preparing for service assessments.
  • Technical Acumen:
  • Understanding of technical concepts, including APIs, system integrations, and data flows.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with technical teams to ensure feasible and robust solutions.
  • Experience with tools like Jira, Confluence, and other collaboration platforms.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Exceptional communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage, influence, and manage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience in facilitating workshops and resolving competing priorities among diverse stakeholders.
  • Agile Experience:
  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban, and experience working in Agile delivery teams.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and contribute to iterative delivery.
  • Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills:
  • Proven ability to analyze complex problems and translate them into actionable solutions.
  • A detail-oriented mindset with the ability to spot interdependencies and mitigate risks.
