Therefore, we are excited to announce a new opportunity to join our Waste Treatment Asset Strategy Team as a
Strategic Asset Manager! This team develops the medium to long term strategy for the waste treatment estate, develops our five- yearly business plan submission to Ofwat and (working with tactical, operational and delivery teams) makes investment decisions to balance risk and performance.
The role of a Strategic Asset Manager is varied and a typical week could see you developing an investment plan for a sewage works that meets the needs of today and the future, researching and reviewing future environmental legislation, advising delivery teams and liaising with developers and regulators!

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW
The team comprises c6 Strategic Asset Managers and analysts reporting to an Asset Strategy Lead. Key accountabilities will be:
- Translating the outputs from Ofwat’s final determination of our business plan (PR24) into practical plans that tactical and delivery teams can use to manage annual investment.
- Making clear and sometimes difficult prioritisation decisions to ensure that our investment plans balance capital and operational spend, meet our performance commitments and ensure we remain compliant with environmental legislation.
- Undertaking medium and long term planning taking into consideration future capacity needs, future legislation and land use. This will include development of our next business plan submission to Ofwat (PR29).
- Improving our processes particularly in relation to understanding housing and trade growth within our catchments.
- Ensuring that you have current knowledge of sewage treatment processes and working practices, developing links with other water companies where appropriate.
- Considering the life cycle of a variety of sewage treatment assets and supporting with developing asset class strategies for out most critical assets.
- Working with the team and Environment Agency to develop our environmental programme for the next 5-10 years.
- Working alongside out tactical asset planning schemes to provide project sponsorship (generally large and complex schemes).
- Supporting the development of, and adherence to, our corporate Asset Management Framework.
- Working with other teams, both internally and externally to ensure plans are communicated and competing priorities are understood and managed.
- Periodic line management of graduates and apprentice who have placements with the team.

The ideal candidate will have a degree qualification within an engineering or scientific/technical discipline, or the equivalent experience. You will be forward looking and proactive, with the ability to work alone using your own initiative and motivation. You will possess excellent communication and influencing skills and be able to convey detailed information in simple language for a variety of audiences. You will be able to make complex decisions through analysis of technical and financial data to ensure the best outcomes for our customers.
Knowledge And Experience Of One Or More Of The Following Are Preferable, However Candidates With Similar Experience In An Equivalent Industry Will Be Considered
- Sewage treatment processes.
- Delivery/design of water industry capital investment.
- Water industry asset management/strategy.
