Team/Role Overview
The Data Owner Group Manager is a senior level professional role accountable for Data for a single product, function, process, or country, ensuring that is compliant to Regulations, Laws, and Citi Policies, Standards & Procedures to reduce and manage Citi’s data risk. They will assist in implementing the Data Strategy and architecture Target State, and executing the data delivery roadmap for Authoritative Data Sources. They are responsible for influencing Senior Leaders in the business to develop data as a product and strategic asset.
This role requires collaboration across teams of internal data governance stakeholders (including Senior Data Managers, Data Risk & Control, Data Quality/Analytics & Reporting, Master & Reference Data Strategist, Data Tech, etc.) and business/function stakeholders who are tasked with implementing adequate data governance, promote “data as an asset”, and driving culture change to make the organization increasingly data informed.
What You’ll Do
The role has a cross-product and global remit, working with key stakeholders to:
- Act as the key point of contact for all data initiatives within Fund Services. Be responsible for the data and data lineage within Fund Services. Identifying and defining data owners, data domains, and supporting platforms.
- Establish the Funds Data function within the line of business, managing and mentoring a team of data specialists.
- Be the difference between the think and the do for Funds data. Be commercially and strategically minded with responsibility to develop and execute the data strategy and vision for the Fund Services, while aligning to the wider Securities Services Strategy
- Own the Fund Services Data book of work. Partner with key stakeholders to drive and manage the priority of key data deliverables. Establish and maintain product roadmaps and detailed plans for Funds data related initiatives.
- Execute on the strategy and development agenda to build a data driven operating model partnering with technology, office of architecture, operations and enterprise data management
- Own the data catalogue and hygiene controls for Funds. Drive Data Sponsor and Data Owner signoffs of data artefacts including but not limited to Functional Hierarchies, Data Domains, Critical Data Elements, Authoritative Data Sources (ADSs), and Data Models
- Represent Fund Services in the cross Securities Services Data Governance Review Forum and provide updates to the central Data Governance team to ensure the upkeep of Data metrics and drive the overall Data Book of Work
What We’ll Need From You
- Combined experience in banking and financial services industry, information technology and/or data governance.
- Proven change agent with track record of delivery in the data and financial services domains
- Strong knowledge of common data standards like Swift
- Good understanding of the Funds domain and capabilities to make informed decisions and data related to this subject area - critical to understand the business applications of data insights (e.g., what business questions do need to be answered) and what data elements will effectively satisfy those needs.
- Track record of implementing new data management capabilities, or expanding existing capabilities
- Track record of working in the data space with ISO standards and development of data solutions to solve problems
- Have an understanding of a variety of data management and data analysis software packages, databases and data visualization tools
- Programme or project management experience – establishing and maintaining roadmaps and plans.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, and the ability to work with colleagues across Product, Operations and Technology teams.
