Sweeper Driver

You will be responsible for operating specialised vehicles designed to clean streets, parking lots, construction sites, and other public or private spaces.

Ideal candidates would live in the West Sussex/Surrey area, and would need to take the sweeper home on occasions to maximise efficiency.

Operating 07.00 - 17.00 Monday to Friday, with overtime when and as required for Operations, including some weekend working.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate Sweeper Vehicles: Drive and maneuver street sweepers or other cleaning vehicles to clean streets, parking lots, and other areas in compliance with company or municipal standards
• Inspection and Maintenance: Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections on the sweeper vehicle. Identify and report any mechanical issues or necessary repairs to maintenance personnel
• Clean-Up Operations: Remove debris, dirt, leaves, litter, and other materials from designated areas. Ensure surfaces are clean and safe for pedestrians and vehicles
• Document Work: Complete all required paperwork, including work logs, maintenance reports, and safety checklists
• Follow Safety Procedures: Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe driving practices
• Support in Emergency Clean-Ups: Respond to emergency clean-up requests or hazardous situations, such as spills, accidents, or road hazards
• Communication: Report any hazardous conditions or obstacles to supervisors, and work with the team to ensure efficient clean-up operations
  
  
  

Qualifications:

• Valid Driver's License: Must have a clean driving record
• Experience: Prior experience operating street sweeper vehicles or similar machinery is preferred, though on-the-job training may be provided
• Physical Fitness: Ability to sit for extended periods, operate heavy machinery, and perform physical tasks such as handling hoses and removing blockages
• Attention to Detail: Must be able to identify areas that need cleaning and perform tasks accurately
• Basic Mechanical Knowledge: Understanding of vehicle operation and the ability to troubleshoot minor mechanical issues
