Your Mission:

Join a high-stakes Nuclear Steam Supply System (NSSS) project during its critical installation phase. As a Technical & Coordination Support Manager, you will play a key role in supporting and unblocking technical issues, ensuring the seamless progress of the site installation activities. This position requires operational leadership, technical expertise, and close collaboration with multiple stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

💡 Team and Project Management

  • Supervise site prefabrication activities for small-bore piping and supports, ensuring alignment with site priorities.
  • Lead the qualification and implementation of welding on-site, including Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) and supervision of valve installation.
  • Ensure readiness and oversee the implementation of Hydro-Pressure Tests (HPT).
  • Coordinate with commissioning teams and prepare all required documentation for handover.
  • Validate and present EM4 reporting during weekly NSSS meetings.
  • Handle deviations in the HK4102 contract (piping installation scope valued at £200m).

🛡️ Safety and Quality

  • Ensure strict adherence to HSE (Health, Safety, Environment) requirements within the scope of work.
  • Guarantee the quality of installations, ensuring smooth execution of EDF’s surveillance program for prefabrication, valve installation, and testing activities.
  • Prepare processes for the handover to commissioning (Hand-Over 4).

🛠️ Technical Expertise

  • Provide technical expertise on valves, welding, and instrumentation activities.
  • Support the NSSS Installation PM by defining detailed work sequences and ensuring the constructability of piping activities.
  • Quickly address unforeseen issues (e.g., late valve delivery, welding deviations, changes in pressure test loops).
  • Identify and manage technical risks by proposing solutions that balance project schedules and risks.

What We’re Looking For

  • Minimum 15 years of experience in a similar role within the construction industry.
  • Degree in Welding/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Proven leadership skills with a meticulous and rigorous approach to engineering tasks.
  • Strong communication skills (written and oral) to ensure smooth coordination with multiple stakeholders and accurate reporting of issues (e.g., FCR/NCR documentation).
  • Experience managing large construction teams and contractors, ensuring the efficient review of installation documentation.

🎓 Desirable Qualifications

  • Chartered Engineer status (or equivalent) with a relevant engineering institute.
  • Knowledge of PWR design and construction, particularly NSSS systems.
