Design Fire Consultants Ltd (DFC) has been operating since 2010. It is a well-established fire engineering consultancy firm within the Construction Industry, providing a fire safety engineering consultancy service during the design, construction, and operation within the build environment. DFC currently has offices located within Leeds, Manchester, London, and Sheffield with the view to expand bases into other regions in the coming years.


DFC is seeking a talented individual to join our team as a Trainee Contracts Compliance Officer in Manchester or Sheffield.


Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the Trainee Contracts Compliance Officer will be as follows:

  • Discuss, review, and negotiate the terms of client appointments, purchase orders, collateral warranties, reliance letters and non-disclosure agreements (within the scope of the role) and with the assistance of the Commercial and Contracts Compliance Officer where necessary.
  • Liaise with the clients’ representatives with the intention of reaching a mutually agreeable position.
  • Work independently to manage risk and raise any significant commercial matters to the Commercial and Contracts Compliance Officer.
  • Arrange for agreed contracts to be signed by Director(s), either electronically or in hard copy with the approval of the Commercial and Contracts Compliance Officer.
  • Manage the distribution, recording, filing, and archiving of fully executed contracts.
  • Meet with clients, either in person or via Microsoft Teams, to discuss business and legal matters alongside the Commercial and Contracts Compliance Officer.
  • Assist the Commercial and Contracts Compliance Officer with providing in house commercial training to the wider team.
  • Communicate key contractual terms to engineers and provide support on the understanding of the contract requirements.
  • Assist the Commercial and Contracts Compliance Officer with the facilitation of the company’s annual professional indemnity insurance renewal.


Qualifications

The successful candidate will have either of the following:

  • LLB (Hons) Law Degree; or
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Law (PGDL); or
  • Previous experience within a similar role.

The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

  • Excellent negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills when interacting with both colleagues and clients.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of UK legal and regulatory requirements related to contracts and compliance.
  • Keen eye for detail.
  • Well organised and efficient.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work on own initiative and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Professional attitude to build develop and forge long term client relationships.
  • Showcase a commitment to continuing professional development (CPD), identifying learning and development opportunities within the role.
  • Ability to work to deadlines and resolve issues under time constraints
  • IT literate specifically with Microsoft Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
  • Ability travel to and work from other DFC office locations (Leeds, Manchester, London and Sheffield) as and when required.
