Trainee Surveyor

About The Role

Cala Homes (Thames) are looking for a Trainee Surveyor to join our team based in Staines-Upon-Thames. Our Commercial teams play an important role in the profitability of our business through calculating and managing the cost of delivering each project. They work closely with our land, planning, and construction teams at all stages, from budgeting to negotiating with sub-contractors. With support from the team and an assigned mentor, you will:

• Assist in determining the viability of a land acquisition
• Support the buying process by calculating quantities of material required
• Receive and analyse subcontractor tender returns
• Prepare subcontractor orders documents which cover agreed scope of work and terms and conditions
• Assist in preparing development budgets
• Assist in producing monthly cost reports

You will receive on-the-job training and be given learning opportunities to develop your core skills and help set you up for success. Additionally, there is potential for you to work towards a relevant qualification within this role.

About You

We are seeking a new team member who is confident and has the passion and drive to succeed at the highest level.

The ideal candidate will have achieved:

• GCSEs at grades 6 and 7, including Maths and English

You should also be able to demonstrate the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

• Desire to succeed and a passion to learn
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Good problem-solving skills
• Willingness to ask questions and develop negotiation skills
• Effective time management, organisation, and prioritisation skills
• Has an eye for detail
• Proficiency in IT skills, including MS Office Suite applications (Excel, Powerpoint, Word)
• A team-player
• Interest in the housebuilding industry
• Industry experience is beneficial but not required
• Must have (or working towards obtaining) a valid UK Driving License and a willingness to travel
• Must have a full Right to Work in the UK

LOCATION

Cala Homes (Thames) Limited is one of nine regional Cala businesses. The Thames team oversee Cala’s new home developments in Hampshire, Berkshire and Surrey. This role is based in Staines-Upon-Thames. As part of this role, you will be required to visit our developments across the Thames region. This is a hybrid role where you are expected to work a mix of in-office, remotely and on-site.
