Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Road Transport Regulatory Solicitor to join our dynamic team during an exciting period of growth. The role involves working with some of the country's largest and household name operators and their in-house counsel to develop transport compliance strategies.
The successful candidate will provide expert legal advice and representation to clients in the road transport sector, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and effectively managing legal challenges.
This role can be based at any DWF location and remote working can potentially be considered for the right candidate, albeit some attendance at a DWF office will be required.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Regulatory Compliance: Advise clients on national and international road transport regulations, including operator licensing, vehicle maintenance standards, and driver conduct.
- Public Inquiries: Represent clients in Public Inquiries before the Traffic Commissioner, addressing issues such as tachograph compliance, maintenance standards, and financial standing.
- Investigations and Prosecutions: Assist clients during DVSA and police investigations, providing robust defence strategies in prosecutions related to road transport operations.
- Training and Education: Deliver training sessions and seminars to clients and industry stakeholders on regulatory compliance and best practices in road transport law.
This role will sit within DWF's wider national regulatory team, allowing the successful candidate to broaden their regulatory experience in fields such as (non-traffic Commissioner) Public Inquiries and criminal health and safety work.
What will help you succeed in this role?
Essential Requirements
- Qualified solicitor, or similar qualification, with experience in road transport regulatory law is essential.
- Strong knowledge of operator licensing matters and DVSA investigations.
- Proven track record in handling public inquiries before the Traffic Commissioner.
