Description

The role involves full operational responsibility for a varied fleet of HGV vehicles comprising of Artics, Refuse Collection Vehicles, Front End Loaders, Rolling Offs & Skip Trucks. We provide innovative environmental services to a wide range of sectors and an extensive customer base. Our services operate 7 days per week over both day and night shifts. The role involves management of a team of c60 staff – both drivers and office-based staff.

Key Responsibilities


  • Full Health & Safety and Environmental Compliance for all staff, operatives & drivers.

  • Ensure full compliance with Operators licence requirements.

  • Ensures that drivers comply with drivers' hours, tachograph rules and all other prevailing legislation.

  • Work closely with Fleet Department to ensure that the vehicles are maintained properly, including the inspection of vehicles at the appropriate time and the action taken to remedy defects found.

  • Ensure Enva continues to be an innovator and market leader for waste management solutions.

  • Ensure excellent customer service delivery and customer communication standards.

  • Cascade KPIs and ensure all employees objectives deliver agreed standards.

  • Day to day management of Transport Controllers ensuring effective Service Delivery.

  • Manage the fleet of delivery transport, ensuring planned routes and maximum utilisation of capacity.

  • Drive continuous improvement within the department though KPI's and efficiency improvements.

  • Lead and manage weekly financial forecasting to ensure all revenue is recognised and all costs are presented or accrued as necessary.

  • Provide leadership to the transport team and ensure best in class processes are in place across all aspects of the function.

  • Recruit, manage, train and motivate direct reporting staff according to company procedures, policy and employment law.

  • Encourage a culture of teamwork both departmental and inter departmental.

  • Agree and deliver the Operating standards for transport team.

  • Build a winning team to enhance performance and ensure all key positions are filled appropriately.

  • Ensure all staff are achieving their targets and objectives.

  • Ensure all appraisals are completed within the prescribed timescales.

  • Mentor and develop your staff to broaden their flexibility, knowledge and their ability to take on extra responsibility.

  • Ensure effective delegation.

  • Ensure there is adequate out of hours supervision and auditing by the management team.

  • Ensure best in class customer service, with a right first-time approach.

  • Lead by example and embed the golden rules of customer service excellence throughout your team.

  • Ensure excellent customer service delivery at all times.

  • Ensure good communication is maintained at all times and at all levels.

  • Ensure all I.T systems are used correctly and all data is entered accurately, processed in a timely manner and invoices are checked and distributed within the required timescales.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Qualifications:

  • Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) – Road Haulage

  • Full Drivers licence

  • Commercial & financial understanding of Transport Operations

  • Excellent IT Skills & Computer Literacy

  • Excellent communications skills with the ability to communicate at all levels & negotiation skills to influence and drive change, through team, procurement and supply chain

  • Flexible approach to working

  • Results orientated, with desire and tenacity to optimise performance

  • A proven leader with excellent interpersonal and team building skills

  • Excellent organisational and delegation skills

  • Ability to plan and prioritise workload for self and team

Experience:

  • Previous experience of managing Transport Operations

  • Multi-site management
