Job title: Visiting Lecturers in Environmental Management (1. Supervision and Marking)
Salary: £40.12/contact hour for supervision, £20.06/hour for marking
Skills and Qualifications required
The Geography, Environment and Planning subject group is seeking to appoint a number of Visiting Lecturers to help with marking assignments and student project supervision on our postgraduate degree programme MSc Environmental Management. The appointments involve the following areas:
Sustainability and environmental systems
Environmental auditing
Environmental policy and governance
Water resources management
Water pollution control
Waste and pollution management
Sustainable energy
Urban design and conservation
Successful applicants will either hold at least an MSc degree in a cognate area, or have equivalent demonstrable practitioner experience. PhD students are welcome to apply. They will have excellent knowledge of core areas of teaching in the relevant field. Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (or a similar teaching/training qualification) is desirable.
Successful applicants will have experience of teaching or training in the relevant field(s), providing academic guidance, mentoring and pastoral care to students or trainees, and/or marking assessments in Higher Education or a professional setting, with positive feedback gained. Experience with online learning environments is desirable.

Brief Description of Roles and Duties
The appointments will involve marking assignments and/or contributing to student project supervision in the aforementioned fields. The number of hours worked is flexible and by negotiation.
Our MSc programme is accredited by the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) and the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM). Details of the content of the programme can be viewed on our websites:

We are looking to appoint to start from September 2023, and will interview as we receive applications. Thus, please do not wait to apply if interested in the position/s. The starting rate of pay for Visiting Lecturers is £40.12 per classroom contact hour plus holiday pay (rising to £47.65 per hour plus holiday pay, with progression). This hourly rate reflects the requirement for teaching preparation and supervisory meetings. Additional marking and moderation is paid at the starting rate of £20.06 per hour plus holiday pay (rising to £23.82 per hour plus holiday pay, with progression).
Please note that all duties must be undertaken within the UK, though they may be undertaken online. The University cannot support visa applications for these posts, should you reside outside the UK.
